Dear Members of AIA Hampton Roads,

As we embark on an exciting journey in 2024, I am honored to lead our chapter, now at a pivotal moment of transformation and growth. Our strategic plan for 2023-2025 has set a clear vision for our future, focusing on leadership in design and planning for Coastal Resilience and Adaptation, critical for our region's sustainability and prosperity.

Our Chapter's Identity
Our achievements under the name AIA Hampton Roads have been remarkable, providing a strong foundation for what lies ahead. Yet, as we evolve, so too must our identity to reflect our broader commitment and reach. It is with this vision that we transition our chapter to be known as AIA Coastal Virginia (CoVa), a name that embodies our aspirations and strategic direction.

Embracing Coastal Resilience
Our strategic plan underscores the importance of being at the forefront of coastal resilience. The name AIA Coastal Virginia signifies our dedication to leading the dialogue and action in this vital area. It represents our commitment to being the trusted resource and model for sustainable and resilient design, aligning with our goal to provide focused, relevant programs that empower our members and the community we serve.

This name change is more than symbolic. It aligns with our strategic objectives to enhance member value, foster public outreach, and have a significant regional impact. As Coastal Virginia, we will strengthen our position as industry leaders, advocating for sustainable development and adaptation strategies that ensure the well-being of our communities.

Your Participation Has Been Key
Our journey is collaborative, and your engagement has brought inspiration and direction. Considering member input the Board has made the case, and we are excited about this change. I encourage you to share your ongoing thoughts. Together, we can shape a future that reflects our shared values and commitment to excellence in architecture and beyond.
